Christenson Carpentry is committed to building the best quality cabinets for your money. You will not find cabinets made with our quality construction standards for less money. Several large National cabinet companies offer semi and full custom ordered cabinets. Christenson Carpentry offers 100% custom cabinets at a fraction of the large manufacturers price. And, unlike many other “custom” shops we make our own doors and drawer boxes. We do not believe in outsourcing any of the components from mass production factories, we take pride in making every piece in our shop right here in Coal Valley Illinois. Our cabinets are built and installed by only two professional cabinet makers in our small shop. This means you get a very high quality controlled product. We start with a visit to your home to discuss what your needs are and how to efficiently use the space that you have. At that time Jeff will measure the space and make a hand drawn sketch of the room. Then back at the office he will create your dream kitchen by use of a computer program specially designed for custom cabinet makers. When the computer image is finished he can email it to you for your approval. Once approved, a price is submitted along with a general idea of the start and finish times. Christenson Carpentry is a general contractor. We have worked with the same subcontractors for over twenty years. We can provide all of the services needed to completely remodel any room in your home. One phone number is all you need to make it happen. Back at the shop we are constructing your kitchen using Grade A 3/4" plywood for the tops bottoms, sides, partitions and shelves. These parts are joined together with a 3/8” deep dado joint. |

The doors, face frames and drawer fronts are all made from 3/4" solid wood. We use a tongue and groove system for attaching the face frames to the 3/4" Grade A plywood.
Our drawer are made from 5/8” solid Soft Maple wood and feature 1/2" dovetails on each corner. The bottoms are a full 3/8” thick Baltic Birch plywood.
The cabinets are then stained with your choice of stain . We then apply a light coat of pre catalyzed lacquer to seal in the stain. Next we hand sand the lacquer with super fine paper. The second coat is sprayed using a toner that is mixed in with the lacquer to give the cabinet a consistent color and give the finish some depth. The second coat is hand sanded just like the first coat. The final coat is a clear coat finish, the same product that was used for the first two coats. Christenson Carpentry uses M.L. Campbell products for the finishing procedure. Our cabinets are protected with Magnamax clear lacquer which meets or exceeds rigorous testing from the Kitchen Cabinets Manufactures Association ( KCMA). Please visit www.mlcampbell.com to learn more about the high quality finishes that are used on our projects. The cabinets are assembled using the very best hardware available. We use Blum full extension drawer slides. These slides are under mount slides that are out of site leaving only the drawer to see. The slides have a soft close feature that will automatically pulls the drawer in after giving it a light push. These slides are standard on all cabinets. Our hinges feature 3 way adjustability so your doors will always line up even if your house settles. For more information please visit www.blum.com |
